Authentication of Artworks
As the exclusive global representatives of Dr. Esther Mahlangu, The Melrose Gallery is the only entity authourised to issue official authentication for her artworks.

Every original artwork by Dr. Mahlangu sold through The Melrose Gallery is accompanied by a bespoke Certificate of Authenticity that serves as a permanent record of the work’s provenance and value.
Our Authentication Process
To protect collectors and preserve Dr. Mahlangu’s legacy, each Certificate of Authenticity includes:
Signatures
Personally signed by Dr. Esther Mahlangu and a director of The Melrose Gallery.
Unique Hologram Seal
A tamper-proof hologram embedded with a serial number, matching a second hologram affixed
discreetly to the reverse of the artwork.
Artwork Details
Title, year of creation, dimensions, medium, and a high-resolution image of the work.
Artist Portrait
An image of Dr. Mahlangu with the specific artwork at the time of completion.
Verification Number
Each certificate carries a unique reference number, recorded in The Melrose Gallery’s secure archive,
enabling future verification.
Provenance Record
Documentation of
ownership history when applicable.

Third-Party Sales & Verification
For artworks purchased through other channels, The Melrose Gallery offers a formal Artwork Verification Service. This involves physical inspection, comparison against our archival records, and, where necessary, consultation with Dr. Mahlangu herself. Only works meeting our strict criteria will be issued with an official Certificate of Authenticity.
